This shot shows the logos of companies who helped with the film, as it is the opening 'credits', credit is payed to
The films makers.
It has Regency Films logo - the film studio that produced the movie, this could immediatley give audiences a good
or bad feeling on the film due to previous opinions on the film studio.

This is an establishing shot, showing the crowded beach. This gives the audience a general idea of LA - depsite
the seedy voiceover. It can be seen as being a juxtaposition on the reast of the film, almost a false representatoin.
The shot is acompanied with the line "The beaches are wide and inviting" which matches sound and on screen
happenings - (Match on action?)

This shot shows the title of the movie, it is centralised as not to go un noticed and the shot behind is seperated
into four parts - this could be to signify how busy Los Angeles is, or to show how un ordered and chatoic things
are really. It also shows a typical 50's representation of workers and also showing how people dressed back then.

This shot shows a celebrity (Marilyn Monroe?) and is accompanied with the voicover "you could even get discovered"
The picture is now black and white however, meaning that it could - and probably is - recycled old footage of
Monroe herself, making the Celebrity life and getting discovered more plausable - as to relate to Monroe.
This again relates typically to the time period and helps set the scene for the rest of the movie - as is shown
that the prostitutes in teh film are surgically made to look like women such as marilyn monroe.

This shot shows a typical 50s diner lady on rollerskates - this has clear connotations to the 50's and the noir
genre in general. The cars also in view are from that time period, adding to the theme.

This shot shows a stereotypical 50s cop - this gives a clear representation of the kind of cops appearing in the
film, the television show that the cop is appearing on (called, Badge of Honour) also appears and is key to the
plot of the film.

This shot shows the LAPD arresting the character of Mickey Cohen, And it refelects the celebratised dramatic way
that things were back in those days - it helps keep the setting real and true to life - the officers arresting look
respectable and they seem to fit the time period well, this shot also alure to the fact that the police are a main
part ofthe story.

"it's only a matter of time before someone with balls of brass comes along to fill the gap"
This leaves the opening sequence on a cliffhanger, mysterious thing. It alludes to that exact chain of events
taking place.

This shows the time period well also, and shows one of the key characters in the plot - his job working for Hush-hush
magazine also relating to a key line in teh story - the charater is introduced during his line of work, reporting.
